Cassete Pirata was born in 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal by the hand of five friends united by jazz, willing to write and discover new songs in Portuguese, in a return to the references, landscapes and sounds that we all have in common.
Produced by Luís Nunes (aka Benjamim), the band brings together the creativity of João Firmino's (Pir) voice and guitar, the firm hand of bassist António Quintino, the shattering beat of João Pinheiro and the sensitivity of Margarida Campelo's voices and keyboards and Joana Espadinha.
A Montra, the debut album released in 2019, was considered one of the best of the year for Antena 3, with the singles “Chora-mother”, “Ferro e Brasa” and “Outro Final Any” paving the way for the revelation of their music .
“This album is the organic result, sometimes slower and more sinuous, but always rich and dazzling of what it is like to (on) live as a band, as artists, as personalities
whole, in this game we are now entering. This is our first record, it's our first showcase.” says the band.
This year they present the N2 Tour, which is both a tribute to the longest road in the country and Europe and a motto to take their music to places where it has never been heard.
Considered a real breath of fresh air in the panorama of Portuguese indie rock, Cassete Pirata find their home on stage.
