Band: IF LUCY FELL
Truly stunning debut effort from Portuguese spastics If Lucy Fell!'It's hardcore Jim, but not as you know it.’ Cheap Star Trek lead-off aside, this is just so right in so many ways. It has the chaotic nature of The Dillinger Escape Plan, without being over complicated. It has vocals that veer close to barking but just stay the right side of listenable. It’s like The Jesus Lizard’s bastard cousin, throw in a bit of Rapeman, Converge and Girls Vs Boys and you’re about on the money. You can see the metal kids liking it, the emo pretty-things admiring it and the rest of us just standing back and basking in the musical dexterity. If Lucy Fell have an ear for a good tune whilst at the same time being far too discordant to be considered mainstream. So much about this is right.
